Royal: Høvding’s handpicked selection
We look for robust, well-shaped fish that, in our judgement, best represent what a particularly fine Atlantic salmon should look like. These fish are Høvding’s own benchmark. They are the specimens we want to showcase and put our brand behind.

Handpicked from Superior
Royal is selected from Superior-graded batches. Each fish is visually assessed, with particular attention to body shape, proportions and overall appearance.

Individually tagged
Each selected fish is individually tagged with the Royal label.

Packed in polystyrene boxes
Salmon is supplied gutted with head on, packed in polystyrene boxes. Delivery to an agreed Gardermoen terminal.

North of the Arctic Circle
Royal is selected from salmon farmed in Northern Norway, north of the Arctic Circle.

Cold waters
In the coldest periods, growth slows. These waters are the starting point; firm texture and a consistent appearance are qualities we look for when each fish is assessed.

Packed, to Gardermoen

Selection
Handpicked from Superior-graded batches. Each fish is carefully assessed and selected for the shape, proportions and overall appearance we want to put Høvding’s name behind.
Species and product form
Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), fresh, chilled and whole gutted.
Packing
Salmon is supplied gutted with head on, packed in polystyrene boxes. Box type, labelling and any Høvding logo are agreed per order; supplier boxes may be used.
Flavour and use
Atlantic salmon has a rich, mild, buttery flavour, tender flesh and natural fat marbling. A versatile ingredient for preparations including sushi, sashimi, pan-frying, grilling and smoking.
Raw use, including sushi and sashimi, requires appropriate cold-chain handling, compliance with market requirements and dated documentation for exemption from freezing with each batch or consignment. Royal selection does not replace this.
Transport
Would you like delivery to Gardermoen? We assess supplier delivery to an agreed terminal. Delivery, documents, price and responsibilities are confirmed in the quotation. This enquiry does not book transport.
The Royal heritage · The story behind the name
The Heritage

The sea was the road.
Along Norway’s coast, the sea connected people, trading places and chieftains’ halls. In the Viking Age, sea routes carried goods, knowledge and stories to new shores. This coastal heritage inspires Royal today.

An origin in the north.
Royal is selected from salmon farmed in Northern Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. In the coldest periods, growth slows. These waters are the starting point; firm texture and a consistent appearance are qualities we look for when each fish is assessed.

A name that carries responsibility.
Høvding comes from the Old Norse word for ‘head’. For us, the name is a reminder to take responsibility for what we pass on. Royal is handpicked from Superior-classified salmon. Only fish that meet our selection criteria receive the Royal mark.

The Norse gods.
Before Christianity spread through Scandinavia, the Norse gods were part of everyday life. Odin was associated with wisdom, Thor with thunder and protection, and Njord with seafaring, fishing and prosperity. Their stories reflect a world in which the forces of nature, belief and daily life were intertwined.
