HØVDING SEAFOOD AS
How we handle your information when you contact us, request a quotation or use our website.

The essentials
Here you can find what we receive, why we use it, who can receive it and how long it is kept. You can also find your rights and what the website stores.
Data controller
Høvding Seafood AS, organisation no. 935 107 555, Namsos, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the Seafood pages and email enquiries. Contact: contact@hovdingseafood.com.
What we collect
The website has no forms, customer portal or sign-in. When you email contact@hovdingseafood.com from your own email application, we receive the company and contact details, message, product, quantity, delivery, transport and insurance information you provide, any documents you attach and ordinary email information such as the sender address and time. Avoid unnecessary personal or sensitive information in messages and attachments.
Purposes and legal bases
We answer business enquiries, check companies and orders, prepare quotations, coordinate agreed deliveries and document the dialogue. For business contacts and security, the basis is our legitimate interest in reliable, documented trade and preventing abuse (GDPR 6(1)(f)). Contract necessity applies where you personally are the contracting party (6(1)(b)); statutory accounting, customs and export duties use 6(1)(c). We do not make automated commercial decisions.
Recipients and Arranged freight
The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (see below), and Microsoft is used for company email. Relevant information is shared with the named carrier or another recipient when agreed or approved.
Necessary order, contact, batch and document details may be shared with the supplier, agreed exporter, authority, terminal and forwarder for the agreed task. Document access depends on role and case. Separate freight and customs assignments require the relevant authorisations.
Website hosting
The website is a static website hosted by Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA). When you visit the pages, Vercel processes technical connection information such as IP address, browser and device information, the requested address and the time. This is necessary to deliver the pages, protect the service against abuse and keep operational logs. Vercel processes this information on our behalf as a data processor. We use Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous visitor statistics. It does not use cookies and stores nothing on your device. See the section on website statistics. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and available website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Vercel may process information outside the EEA, including in the United States. The transfer is based on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, under which Vercel is certified, and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in Vercel’s data processing addendum (GDPR Chapter V).
The map on the front page loads map data from OpenFreeMap (openfreemap.org). When the map loads, OpenFreeMap receives your IP address and browser information, as needed to deliver the map. We use no cookies or tracking in the map. “Find my location” uses your location only in your browser, and it is not stored or sent to us.
Transfers outside the EEA
Technical providers may process data outside the EEA. Such transfers require a valid GDPR transfer basis, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses with necessary safeguards. Contact us for current information about recipients, countries and the safeguards applicable to your data.
Retention
Our retention policy is normally to delete or anonymise enquiries without a customer relationship within 12 months of the last substantive contact. Contract and shipment records are kept for performance and possible claims; primary accounting records are normally kept for five years after the financial year. Legal duties or ongoing claims can require longer retention. This also applies when reviewing email copies and attachments.
Website statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to get anonymous, aggregated statistics on how the website is used, for example which pages are visited most. The service does not use cookies and does not store anything on your device.
For each page view, the following is recorded:
- the time
- the page visited
- the referring page
- your approximate location (country, region, city)
- operating system, browser and device type
To tell visits apart, a code (hash) is created from the request. The code is automatically deleted after 24 hours. We only see aggregated figures and cannot identify you.
Høvding Seafood AS is the controller. Vercel Inc. (USA) is the processor. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Vercel may process the data in the USA. Vercel is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and the data processing agreement also includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Cookies and browser storage
The website uses no tracking, advertising pixels or cookie-based analytics. We only use anonymous visitor statistics from Vercel, without cookies. There are no contact forms, customer portal, sign-in, read-aloud or interactive map on the website.
On your first visit, we show a short cookie notice with two equal choices: “Accept” and “Decline”. No language or theme choice is stored before you accept. If you decline, we store only your choice itself (hovding.consent), and any previously stored language and theme choices are deleted. The website works just as well: the language follows the address (.no gives Norwegian, .com gives English), and a selected light/dark appearance applies only while the page is open.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page or with the button below. The legal basis is consent under section 3-15 of the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act and GDPR Article 6(1)(a); storing the choice itself is necessary to respect it.
The website does not load advertising or tracking tools from third parties. The only measurement script is Vercel Web Analytics, provided by our hosting provider. Text is displayed with the fonts already installed on your device. Images and video are delivered from the website’s own domain via Vercel. Links to external websites, such as Instagram and X, open only when you click them; their own terms and privacy rules then apply.
